Red coffee straw, let's have a party

Imagine singing "Red Coffee Straw" to the tune of "Red Solo Cup" and the title will make more sense.   

Why does anyone buy cat toys, ever? No, seriously. I mean we've all seen cats in boxes and it's cute and everything but I figure they should still have little mice to chase.  

But today they found a new favorite toy-that-isn't-a-toy: a red straw. A skinny little coffee-type straw. Benjamin dug it out of the trash can in the office (it actually belongs on the can of keyboard cleaner spray). 

I've never seen him so content. 

He even stopped trying to climb on the desk. 

After awhile, the red straw disappeared and I was afraid he had actually eaten it. But then a sudden scurrying in the hallway alerted me...

The red straw had been discovered anew, this time by the Biz. She was occupied for a good 20 minutes or so. 

I don't have the heart to throw it away. Plus, I have plenty of elbow room on the desk. Win-win.

Introductions

Meet Benjamin.

Benjamin, aka Benji, aka The Benj, joined our household about two years ago. However, since he was the first feline resident - and for about a year, the only feline - he considers himself president, CEO, and king. 

Benjamin, on one of his many thrones. 

Benjamin was perfectly content being an only cat, but we worried that he was getting, well... Lazy. 

Meet Starbuck. 

Starbuck, aka Starbizzle, aka The Biz, was adopted about a year after Benjamin. She's much more shy than Benji. 

Until you get to know her.

Together, they fight crime. Just kidding. Mostly they just lay around together, observing the happenings in their kingdom, or taking turns chasing each other up the steps.
